Archos doesnt have so much apps and the community, as n800. I have bought my n800 for 200€. The cheapest umpc is about 500€/600€ The cheapest Archos with linux (but not really open) is over 250 + you shoud pay for every acessoires. An the n800 is really compact, well built with bluetooth, stander and hq speakers!

OK but no one has their DivX collection at sub 320x240 resolution.. That means you'd have to manually re-encode all files, and thus you might as well re-encode to those low resolution low bitrate formats that work on mobile phones..
Archos also has an Opera browser, and on 14th of June they are releasing the 5th generation devices, I hope some of it's Internet tablet type of functionality will be even better than this N800..

Hi Charbax.
Of course the Archos plays wonderfully. Its a Video player! The N800 is a web browser!
As I said in the article on my portal...
"if you're a DivX person and you've got all your content in reasonable sized DivX/Xvid formats, the N800 will oblige and make a nice media player for you."
It is not going to challenge any PMP.

320x240 is not the kind of DivX video file that you are going to download on the Internet. Also it seems from your video that the video is not playing smoothly.
Archos does much better in terms of multimedia and storage.

Nokia N800 is nice but overpriced, add another £100/£150 and you could get a R2H or a Q1.. good work Steve |
