I like how at the end they changed it into a sort of ballad. And Art Blakey on the tom toms at the end? DAMN!!! Dddddddddd..... dgggggggg criss-cross. Holy crap. I also like it how at 7:09 Lee Morgan adds the blues note.

Most of them did, that's how it worked in jazz. Leaders would hire young cats they thought had great potential. Blakey & Miles were two who had countless future bandleaders pass through their bands.

Man oh man. The best Messengers line-up with the best drummer in the world. Only one who is on the same level is Max Roach.
