He's playing a baritone at the beginning. That might be why the tone is different from yours. You most likely have a soprano (those are the most common and the ones that cost 10 bucks). I'm pretty sure they're all also in different keys.

i bet yours is a soprano recorder...right?it's the most common and can be purchase a lot cheaper...

cheap recorders do sound bad...not as good as the expensive one....but with experience it can sound a lot better...i have mine too...it doesn't sound as good as this but i kinda improved a lot....lol
