yea, I'd look up the pin out of a USB plug before considering this, I'm pretty sure there's a volt threshold and some sort of polarity involved.

its similar to the old middle school science project where you powered a clock with a potato. i would assume the principle would work,I'm just not sure about the USB actually charging it, not being familiar with the electrical pathing and input/output of a USB plug. but the concept is very true.
