hey, since there seems to be a discussion going on about vioin, viola, etc. i wanted to add my own question. Do you think if someone is naturally good at the violin, its still possible for them to get as good as conservatory students who have a stroger repertoire? I guess my question is, for a developing violinist, is repertoire the most important?

yes i understand what you mean, although i started violin, piano, cello then viola, i think its mega easy once you've got your brain round all the notes...and cello you can teach youself because there are hardly any bad habits to get into (but i have experience with the violin, so i suppose i new the bow grip, posture, etc)

I think its might also have something to do, With what you learned first aswell, like I havent really had alot oftime with a cello, I was just playing it in the violin shop one day, The dealer said i was pretty good, I played viola the same way I played violin so pretty good Bass is really easy cuz its SUPER spread out, I would just need to get ued to on im sure i would get it after a while.

i think cello is the easiest of all strings, i play violin, piano and viola too, violin is the hardest!

I started playing violin approximatly six years ago and im alright like im grade eight, so im getting up there, (Im giong to see Itzhak Perlman and Pinchas Zukerman tonight I'm very excited) but i played a viola, its all the same like fingering and everything everything is just four notes lower, but viola is just more spread out, and CELLO! is so HARD! I can play bass, violin and Viola, BUT NOT CELLO! anyways hope that helps! |
