Rall, Hartmann, and other talented pilots went to work for the Bunds. after the war and were involved with NATOs tactical training program....all the while fellow like Galland were training pilots for the Argentine air force...which didn't fare so well against the Britts. during the battle of the Falklands. I believe Galland was prohibited from joining the new Luftwaffe under the Bundeswehr.

My uncle knew Erich, intially got me interested in the guy. When Erich was sent to the USA by the new Luffwaffe to train on American equipment, my uncle Julius met him. So good was Erich at flying that apparently Erich was able to do things with an F86 Sabre that they didn't think was possible. In his words, Erich really was a "devil of a pilot", but a very kind and caring man.
