If I got this right, the 9800GTX+ at 775MHz core clock is just as fast as this card. That means that it's unnecessery to waste about 500$ when you can get the 9800GTX+ for about 150$ (this is just a price guess since I live in Sweden and don't look up the currency very often).

you mean 9800gx2 i assume. 9800gx2 is cheaper, and has less usable ram limiting AA. However, it can get better results without AA than gtx 280 on many games. Most are assuming that the gtx needs new drivers, and they will probably be right. My gtx Oclocked at 700mhz(RAM at 1500mhz), and my processor q9550 @ 3.4ghz I am getting about 4-5 fps better than video poster, who has better specs than I.
If I were you though, I think I'd go 9800gx2 just for the amazing price. That is if you dont want ATI

You raised your fan speed to 100%? It must sound like a jet engine in your room :P.
73 core is still a bit high, especially if you have fan maxed. Do you live in a hot area?

lol i was so pissed off when i found out that default fan speed wasnt 100%. A new case dropped my temp to about 73 degree, using furmark but when i run games and it never reaches this.
ps, this is my core temp, my ambiuent temp is about 60.

i know that is not 8800gx2 men :P

during a max load, a non overclocked 280 should be around 59-63. I suggest RMAing or returning for a replacement ASAP as there is probably a heating issue. Verify that your fan is working. If you cant return it, use riva tuner to at least raise the fan speed so the card lasts longer before it fries.

go with over clocked edition ftw is the best
Oleg114208 (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
first of all there is no 8800gx2 second, 280 gtx is the fastest single gpu card at this time so id go with 280
(there is a 9800gx2 but 280 still better
