People who are flipping out about this don't understand it. Everything you create is still yours. No one's going to take it away from you. It's up for grabs only when the owner cannot be found. If you take steps to protect and ID your work, you should be fine. If you post your work online with no identifying marks or info on where to reach you, you're asking for it to become public domain anyway.

does the bill apply to everyone on a global scale? or is it just America that will be effected?

I'm sorry, but this video is incredibly dishonest. The Orphan Bill is many things, but it in NO WAY requires you to jump through extra hoops to copyright your work. All it says is that an individual must make a genuine effort to search for the owner of a work. Which isn't difficult if you are POSTING a work - they simply must in good faith contact you. This is what's wrong with America, the willful dishonesty in debate.

This is absolute bullship. I gaurentee you many art sites and many many private artists will be removing their art from there. Fuck you corporative America, Fuck you George Bush, Fuck you Obama, Fuck you McCain- I'm moving to Canada.
