Dr. Robert Blum at 2007 AASB Conference in Alaska
Dr. Robert Blum summarizes the School Connectedness and Student Learning presentation he gave at the Association of Alaska School Boards Annual Conference in Anchorage, Alaska on 10/9/07. A condensed version of his PowerPoint slides follows the interview.
Dr. Blum was co-investigator on the National Longitudinal Study on Adolescent Health, the largest survey of American youth ever taken. Recently he published a study in the American Journal of Public Health debunking the myths that race, income, and family structure can be major predictors of youth health risk behaviors. He spoke on his research that shows how school connectedness improves student learning and reduces unhealthy risk behaviors.
