The GTS is of course very powerful! But people told me to buy the GTX if i like to use a resolution like 1650x1050 (or even 1920x1200). Games like Crysis hopefuly will run better than on the GTS if I use higher resolutions. And ~30€ (50$) more isn't too much.
Assassin's Creed will be released soon. I think both cards could get problems there...

Actually the GTS 512 performs admirably at 1680x1050, even with AA and AF turned on. I have the Samsung SyncMaster 226BW(which is I would highly recommend except its been replaced with a new model) and game exclusively @ 1680x1050. Oblivion runs without a hitch @ that res with all settings max'd,HDR & 8x AA (forced through driver) & that was with my old 4500 w/2gb DDR2 667. According to benchies 1920×1200 is were GTX really pulls ahead, esp. w/filters(AA,AF)

Gut, lassen wir mal den Memory-Bug bei SI außen vor. Oblivion hat weniger Bugs, dafür umso gravierendere.
Ich behaupte alle 3 Spiele kamen - wie so oft - unfertig raus. :/

Yeah, that was the main reason for buying the GTX. I hope i'll get a 22" this year and with a resolutin of 1650x1050 the GTS could get problems. 200€ (315$) sounds much better than 250€ (390$)...
The E8400 is indeed very nice. ;) I was waiting for it a whole month because Intel had problems to produce enough for Germany.

Interesting, your set-up sounds a lot like my set-up. e8400 (which I just bought and really love) 8800 GTS 512, 4gb ram. I wish they had increased the memory bandwidth on the GTS 512 and just called it the next GTX, I gladly would have payed more than I did (255USD +$30 rebate)for the increased performance.

As you can see, this vid is old. I'm using a 8800GTX, E8400 and 4GB Ram today. But even the "old" X1950XT was one of the most strongest cards in 2006. And the games were released in '06.
I think you'll like it. 30$ is quite a good price for it! I payed 65€ (100$) for Gothic 3 in a "Collector's Edition".

Elcrian, your video card was a good card back in the day, but these days you are behind the times. I think maybe you should upgrade, perhaps 8800 GT? Good vid, I love oblivion (& Morrowind!) and was thinking about getting Gothic(even paying for it, if you can believe that). They have all three Gothics in one bundle for 29.99 at Frys. After watching your vid I think I'll get it.
