but if you ask anyone about jazz in general, they probably won't know what it is anyway. xD ask a jazz player about Bill Evans, and they'll know who he is.

every yr in Downbeat since before and after he died Bill Evans was named Most influential pianist by a majority of jazz piano players

Ahh,bill still has influence on young pianist, but yes most of the general public doesnt know him. They know Kenny G, a nothing player who makes millions playing mostly out of tune, simple bs-sad

How about a hand for the producer Orrin Keepnews, for having the insight to record these cats in the first place? Try to get his book "The View From Within"(Oxford University Press,1988)-a great read on the fine hard bop of the period.

How about a hand for producer Keepnews for having the insight to record these cats in the first place? Track down his informative book on what it was like-places,personaliies and such-called "The View From Within"(Oxford University Press,1988)if you can find it. It's worth the effort.

One of the great unknown "masters." If you ask anyone about Bill Evans, they sadly won't know who he is. Except for those in industry. Thanks for posting. |
