As somebody in his forties, I agree with you about SpongeBob. That's a classic cartoon and ranks with the best from my generation.
With that said, I still like Bugs and Tom and Jerry better. :-)

I have the opposite view. I think it's one of the best cartoon themes ever.
I used to watch this on WPIX during the early '70s when I was a kid. One of my favorites.
