Sweet! Joe McNally leaves the beep on! I love the SB-800 and I thought other professionals would make fun of me for leaving the beep on. I call it the happy beep/sad beep 'cause it squawks when you screw up. Thank you for leaving the geek beep on. Nikon rocks!

try in same position softbox, standart reflector, frensel and beauty dish. in all cases you have one direction and 4 different results !
"If you cannot light without the aid of a modeling light, you are missing out on many, many lighting opportunities" -> this is what i am saying at the begining... and some folks dont understand it !

Sure you can. If you are not standing near a black hole, light travels in a straight line.
It is very simple: View the subject form the position of the light source and you will see exactly what will be lit and what won't. If you cannot light without the aid of a modeling light, you are missing out on many, many lighting opportunities.
Throw those crutches away.
