I just bought this game and i just ordered a new computer which should be able to handle it pretty well, would an alienware area-51 7500 with 3.16ghz, 4gb ram, and 2 512mb nvidia gefore 9800 gt have a fast frame rate?

I don't think so, Using an external HDD The main hard disk will only read/write the temporary memory cache and the external will only read game files (the job will be divided by two). My own experience says that USB 2.0 speed is fast enough to run games. Il will to the test and i will give you the results ;-) Have a nice day !

using a USB HD will only make things worse. The through put through the USB isn't as good as your hard drive connected to your main bus.

I didn'd say it's always smooth, but I can play (I don't know how many fps :-). I think my graphic card makes all the difference but my main current problem is the hard disk acces time (I will try using an external High speed USB HDD). Try disabling your antivirus (if you have one) and quit all your others programs, it was much better for me.
