Wth are you talking about. This band is dark wave and trying to be cute. Which they are good at^-^. I noticed it was done in the 80's however the "emo kids" like hardcore music.

First, these two were definitely part of the proto-goth scene in the '80s. But to say a Dolly Parton song is or isn't goth is stupid. And I don't think the SS version was supposed to be compared to Parton's version. It was recorded as a DANCE SONG, made for the underground club scene in the '80s. I can't help you if you think '80s music was all Oingo Boingo and B52's. If you weren't a dork in the 80's you were in clubs dancing to songs like this. Halcyon days to be sure.
