I like the asthetics of the M-4 & M-16, but I don't like the rounds or gas system.

I used the M14 in 2/75 Regiment, superb weapon I highly recommend it. Whenever I hit someone with that weapon, it brought them to the ground, end of story. Very rugged, very reliable.

There are certain qualities that define an assault rifle, the StG.44 did not originate these. When you compare the rifles they're about as far apart as you can get while still being in the same class.
Examples:
Small, light, fast 5.56x45 vs. the large, heavy, slow 7.92x33.
Aircraft aluminum and high-strength plastics vs. large amounts of heavy, printed steel and some wood.
Single/Three round burst trigger group vs. Single/Automatic trigger group.

the m16 borrowed most of its assault rifle qualities from the stg 44 , they forget to give credit to the germans in this vid

m16 is better

the m14 was NOT a falier!
its just not very efectice on full auto
its better used as a semi auto the same way that the M1 Garand was used

haha im a redneck and i shot it twice and even still im alive as you can tell. but i still would love to have a .30-06. good power and just enough recoil to be fun but not beat the shit out of your shoulder.
yeah but im not a fan of anything less than .308 for a battle rifle. i never have liked the assault rifle.

I will never fire a .50 caliber rifle BECAUSE:
Karma does not like rednecks and .50 cal rifles to mix. Ever see the video of the guy that fired the Barret? The round ricocheted off a hill, came back, and popped off his left ear cover. I'll stick to my .30-06, thanks. :P
Anyway, the age of spray-and-pray weapons are starting to fade, and the focus of cartridges is already shifting from light weight and ROF to stopping power. 'Bout time.
Too bad money's still an object...
