The Russians stole much of what was formerly Eastern Ukraine as well. It stole Moscow as well as Novgorod from Kiev. Does that mean it does not make it Russian? The word Russia, itself is a stolen word from Kievan RUS. RUSsia even stole the name from Ukraine. Your dumbass logic doesnt work here

Ukraine does not need Russia. And the only reason Russia might need Ukraine is because it cannot be an Empire unless it has Ukraine. Because it was from Kiev that our East Slavic civilization was built, and without Kiev it cannot claim dominance as the Third revival of the Roman Empire.

By that dumb logic I can say Kiev, which was the ruling city of Kievan Rus, established Moscow along with many other modern day Russian cities, and since Kievan Rus collapsed Russia stole all those cities for itself. Odessa was always a Ukrainian city, and always will be, no matter who built it. Any further questions?

I traveled to Odessa in March of 2005. I stayed near the "Duke Monument". Wonderful city, with very friendly people. Hopefully one day I will get the opportunity to return to Odessa. Hopefully it will be much warmer next time!!!
