Vraiment? A St-Louis???? J'ai toujours cru qu'elle venait de Tahiti! Merci!

Josephine Baker était une merveilleuse chanteuse mais elle est née le 3 Juin 1906 à Saint Louis, Missouri, Etats-Unis pas Tahiti

This was originally sung by Josephine Baker, that glorious black singer/entertainer from the roaring twenties in Paris. She came from Tahiti, so she sang : I have two loves: my country (Tahiti) and Paris.

kt810: Thanks for adding it to your favorites. The lyrics are about having two loves: my country and Paris -- J'ai deux amours, Mon pays et Paris (I have two loves, my country and Paris).

I have no idea what she is singing about exactly but it sounds so beautiful it is a favorite

I saw Madeleine Peyroux at the Bass Hall in Fort Worth, Texas recently. What a show! What a singer! What a band!
