Dude its freaking 7.1 megapixle! The photos are huge.....bigger then 2560 * 2048 or what ever...I dont know the numbers and too lazy to look up : P.

the max resolution for the pictures is 3072 by 2304. The 640 by 480 mentioned was addressing the resolution of the video, which is standard definition for NTSC lands.
