I think, saying "i will give her, my wife, all the sweet things i can find". Means "her" pointing to his "wife" want to give her happiniss. THen after i while i think they got separated, but he still love his wife when he say "i will wish for her, his wife, all the sweet things she can find". Now "her" is pointing to the other guy's wife which is actually his ex-wife wishing for her happiness. -wht do u think?-

Nope. He's pointing out his wife, he will give his wife sweet things he can find. "i will give to her, my wife, all the sweet things i can find." kinda like saying, "i'll turn it off, my lamp, and plug it off." hope you understand. im bad at explaining things :D

This song happened to me in 1975. I'm married now with grown children, but, it still hurts, her being my 1st love, It took me a long time to wish them 'all the sweet things they can find.' But, if I had not gone thru that, I possible would have not found the love of my life. A sweet and happy 22 years.
