Live view! The mirror goes up my friend! not down! So you are seeing the image going directly to the sensor.. tripod mode the mirror is out of the way..
I'm glad I waited for the D300..

D300 has better IQ, better Noise control, better screen and better features as well.. Are you sure you're not just a bit angry that you can only afford the D200? :D
